And Then There Was One

Last show of the tour tonight. Excited to play as hard as humanly possible, got plenty of vacation coming up to rest. The tour has run its course and as per usual the start drags and the end flies by. But after some 30 days of being in a van with 9 dudes I think everyone is jazzed to go home.

Still have a lot of travel left before the year is up, but this chapter is coming to an end. It’s been an awesome experience travelling and playing with my buds again. Touring Europe has always been a big dream for me and I’m really psyched I got to finally do it with Buried Inside.

That said, it is going to be nice to take a week off in London and spend some time with K. No more early wake ups and epic drives for a long time. MPH out, see you at the Christmas party.

Let Yourself Go

Dressing for the occassion – an important part of adult life. So when the occassion is an odd 30 hours of travel you have to go with the flow. Comfort runs this show and nothing is more comfortable than cotton jeans. If you’re not fashion forward you might refer to them by their pedestrian name: jogging pants. And if you’re ahead of the game you’re calling these by their new name: buffet pants. Why buffet pants? Because it’s what you wear to an all you-can-eat dinner to increase the shame of eating two plates of Swedish meatballs.

Swedish Sundays

Spent nine hours today driving through dark and eerie Scandanavia. Slept through most of it but during my conscious hours I cranked Timber Timbre. Something great about findingthe perfect record for the moment. By 3:30 the sun was down.

In Sandviken, Sweden playing with label mates Gadget. The club has a list of every show from 1994. Great Swedish acts like Entombed, Hellacopters, and Disfear as well as some Canadians (Born Dead Icons) and classic 90s hardcore (Snapcase and Turmoil). Cool to see a timesheet like that.

No wifi in sight today, but the apartment we’re in above the club has a great VHS collection. Currently watching the Van Damme classic Double Impact. So far it’s proving to be a great way to kill the post epic drive blues.

You Go Back, Jack, And Do It Again

Tour is starting to wind down just as shows are starting to peak. We’ve had a string of great shows – last night in Berlin being one of the best so far. With one week to go the days are starting to pass by faster. Most of that has to do with settling into the routine of tour.

Wake up, usually too early, and get in the van. Drive. Rest stop. Drive more. Show up at venue and unload. Eat snacks and drink coffee. Look outside it’s dark again. Set up gear and sound check. If there is time take a lollipop stroll through town. If lollipop stroll is not an option find a foozball table. If that fails, invent game. Jokes. Start drinking beers. Dinner. More beers. Look at belly, get depressed. Stretch it off and play as loud and hard as possible. Man the merch table. Socialize with the locals. Pack up and load out. Jokes. Drive to hotel or apartment. Go out and make party. Nap. Do it all over again.

Backstage Access

Nothing more base than stock graffiti in venues the world over. There is something quite disturbing about the number of dick doodles you’re exposed to on any given tour. Total ad creep.

Toilet Update: Switzerland

This thing makes you feel like an astronaut. The sink shoots water straight into the same hole.

Suds Not Duds

Finally was able to do some laundry, only problem being euros don’t tend to have dryers. So instead I just turned the van interior into my personal clothesline. And just to make sure everthing was dry I spent some time in the bathroom with the hand dryer. Oh man, will this crazy rock roller coaster ever stop?
